About Lac Ste Anne

An hours drive west of Edmonton, historically significant Lac Ste Anne provides numerous recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Communities surrounding the lake include the popular resort village of Alberta Beach, and a sprinkling of summer villages including Ross Haven, Sunset Point, and Castle Island, among others. Ample opportunities for a wide variety of water-based sports including water-skiing, windsurfing, swimming, and sailing exist. Large boats may be launched at Alberta Beach and at the narrows with several other boat access points around the shore. Parks and public picnic areas are available for outdoor relaxation in summer. Golfers can partake in an 18-hole round of golf at the Alberta Beach Golf Resort. Winter provides its own array of activities with local trails for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing with numerous fishing huts dotting the lake. Popular with anglers, the lake contains a productive population of walleye and pike and other species of fish. Community events draw numerous visitors to the area with Polynesian Days in August and Sno-Mo Days in February. The Alberta Beach Farmers Market runs Saturdays weekly from May until September, providing locals with fresh, locally produced goods.
